Abstract Discrete Element Method (DEM) simulation using a breakage model is applied to study a broad range of existing compression based crushers to better understand machine level operation and to demonstrate that such modelling is now possible. Predictions for five types of crushers: jaw crusher, cone crusher, gyratory crusher, impact crusher and double roll crusher are presented.
An impact crusher can be further classified as horizontal impact crusher and vertical shaft impact crusher based on the type of arrangement of the impact rotor and shaft. Horizontal shaft impact crusher: Here the rotor shaft is aligned along the horizontal axis. It has a reduction ratio of around 10:1 to 25:1. Vertical shaft impact crusher ...

2011-5-10 · PERFORMANCE MODEL FOR IMPACT CRUSHER General scheme of breakage process Impact breakage takes place in a very small time scale and results into a dynamic crack propagation that leads to a much faster failure of particles. The impact generates compressive and tensile shock waves that travel throughout the particle.
using a drop-weight impact test, with drop weights of various shapes (oval, cube, and sphere). An Attainable Region (AR) technique, which is a model-free and equipment-independent technique, was then applied to optimize the impact energy during the breakage process and also to get particles in defined particle size classes.
Impact Crushers; Typical rules for primary crusher selection: Rule 1: Always use a jaw crusher if you can due to lower costs. Rule 2: For low capacity applications, use jaw crusher and hydraulic hammer for oversize. Rule 3: For high capacities, use jaw crusher with big intake openings. Rule 4: For very high capacities, use gyratory crusher.

2020-9-1 · While loading and breakage mechanisms are related to the ore breakage, the breakage mode defines its breakage in terms of being random or non-random. King and Schneider suggested that if the breakage is affected by the mineral texture non-random breakage mode happens; otherwise, it is a random process [25] .
